Claire Su

Claire Yiching Su, pianist and conductor, was born in Taiwan in 1986. She began studying piano at the age of five.

After earning her degree in piano at the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, she continued her training in France, at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and the Conservatoire d’Aulnay-sous-Bois.

Guided by the advice of Apo Hsu and later Julien Guénebaut, she perfected her orchestral conducting technique. Rooted in the classical tradition, she also nurtures her creativity in jazz under the guidance of Damien Nedonchelle and Ludovic de Preissac.

In 2021, Claire conducted several film-music projects dedicated to Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin with the orchestra of the conservatories in Seine-Eure, where she teaches piano and piano accompaniment. As pianist for the Chœur Tempestuoso, she also accompanies the singers of the Tréteaux Lyriques.

Since 2020, Claire has taught piano and accompanied instrumental and vocal classes at the Conservatoire de Gaillon and the Conservatoire de Val de Reuil.

She seeks to further develop and broaden her musical vision through jazz improvisation with Ludovic de Preissac at the CRD in Issy-les-Moulineaux
